Nemrut Volcano Eyes

A journey to the summit is always a journey of self-inspection. Both the volcano and the surrounding landscape can be seen from the competition site and no additional height is needed. But how can one grasp and comprehend the immense greatness of the volcano?

By contrast. By confining oneself into an enclosed space. We propose an enclosure. An isolation of oneself between the earth and the sky. A serene place to hide in the shade, to consider one's smallness and to meditate among the rocks and wonder beneath the stars.

Enclosure is a circular object of five meters in radius and six meters of height in it's respectively tallest part. It is constructed out of light, easily transported metal sheets which are assembled in place.

A ring is inscribed in its inner perimeter forming a bench, walkway or shelter. Sheets are based into the ground either by fixing them into solid rock or by light cementation into the earth.

Outside the structure only the bare minimal security measures are taken. A subtle handrail leads the visitor to the structure and protects them from fall.
